Fertility Pharmacy Moves Onto National Stage
A local pharmacy was recognized as a leader in the area of fertility pharmacy for many years. Because of its reputation, the company was growing, but not beyond its New England service area. The company, with three locations, wanted to expand to become a national pharmacy.
Gates Healthcare Associates (GHA) evaluated its operation and conducted a thorough financial analysis and then was engaged to facilitate the growth process. The result was a plan where the pharmacy sold two smaller locations and used the revenue to build a large, merged facility that would not only replace both smaller locations, but would handle the fulfillment process on a national basis. The result was a company that had more control of employees, inventory and infrastructure.
GHA was part of the team responsible for the regulatory compliance (for licensure) of the new pharmacy, as well as its design. GHA also participated in the company´s growth and development process by identifying new business opportunities.
GHA then recruited the best known, and most experienced, vice president of sales in the specialty pharmacy business, which provided a major boost to the company´s efforts to build a national presence.
In a little over a year, the pharmacy has increased by half its multimillion dollar run rate. It is currently the fastest growing fertility pharmacy in the country, and it is among the largest.
